[Outdoors-Magazine.com] All Kitted Out

[Outdoors-Magazine.com] All Kitted Out: "Modules is the best way to describe how my survival kits are constructed, each one is a self contained module that is complete enough to be used on its own or be used with another module, if the situation warrants it. There are five modules, taking me from the "everyday pocket kit", up to the "72 hour grab & go bag"."

Immediate US Threats by Seismic Weaponry - Volcanoes, Tsunamis, Earthquakes

I'm not even going into the 'Ring of Fire' zone around the Pacific just yet.

Let's look at the Atlantic. From early 2004 New York Daily News: Killer wave lying in wait:
"A tsunami triggered by a volcanic eruption on an island off the coast of Africa could result in mountainous waves up to 75 feet high crashing into New York and other East Coast cities, scientists are warning."

This is referring to the Cumbre Vieja Volcano -- Potential collapse and tsunami at La Palma, Canary Islands due to a volcanic eruption and lavaslide into the ocean.

Freak waves, rogue waves, extreme waves and ocean wave climate explains some of the dynamics of the waves.

Dangerous Phenomena - a maritime site with nice maps and diagrams:
"An ocean-going vessel almost never notices a tsunami, since its amplitude in the deep ocean is no more than 2 metres. However, when approaching the shallow waters of island or continental coastlines, it sharply decreases its speed, and a deformed, large wall of water as high as 16-20 m and more, contacts the shore. Damage to buildings installations and especially, people can be enormous. In the last 1,000 years, Pacific Ocean tsunamis have been observed and recorded over 1,000 times. All of these were major catastrophic events, since smaller events often go unrecorded. "

Seismic Weaponry - Referenced in public statement in 1997 by SecDef William Cohen

Here's a factual discussion piece from 1997. I had been out of the Navy for two years and remember hearing what I discarded as rumors of Soviet research into seismic weaponry. SecDef Cohen addresses it in a Q&A session DefenseLINK News: Secretary Cohen With Senators Nunn and Lugar - April 28, 1997:
"Others are engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves. So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our efforts, and that's why this is so important. "

Legality of Seismic Weaponry - Banned by the UN

Environmental Modification (ENMOD) specifically includes earthquakes and tsunamis. Here is a source where it is addressed and condemned by the United Nations as listed in the appendix of this paper. Edmonds Institute Occasional Paper: "Addressing Environmental Modification in Post-Cold War Conflict The Convention on the Prohibition of Military or Any other Hostile Use of Environmental Modification Techniques (ENMOD) and Related Agreements "

Baseline: Is Seismic Weaponry Available?

You be the final judge of whether or not the question of an intentional act such as a tsunami could occur. Here's the cover of a book I read last year that brought this subject to mind: Seismic Weaponry Reference from GRU Defecting General.

Here's a factoid from 1997. I had been out of the Navy for two years and remember hearing what I discarded as rumors of Soviet research into seismic weaponry. SecDef Cohen addresses it in a Q&A session in this DefenseLINK News: Secretary Cohen With Senators Nunn and Lugar - April 28, 1997:

More about Russian Research Into Seismic Warfare:
"DISTURBING evidence has come to light that the Russian military is continuing
Soviet-era tests in 'seismic warfare', the bizarre theory that underground nuclear explosions can be directed to unleash earthquakes and tidal waves against enemies."
More research into seismic weapons came from The Tom Bearden Website. This guy states:
"...So far as I'm aware, the news media did not even report this first-ever public confirmation by a high U.S. official of the old scalar interferometer weapons which have been around and in extensive use since April 1963. Today, e.g., some 10 nations have such weapons or versions of them, and even the Japanese Yakuza has acquired them (in latter 1989)."
Now, I haven't been able to confirm any of the last bit about the 'ten nations' having these weapons. If they did, then this recent tsunami would really set the pace and provide ammunition for a bunch of paranioa about seismic weapons. I have been able to locate a (*.doc) study that Bearden has done. It uses a lot of the same sources as my own independant research, with a lot more doom and gloom outlook. I can't authenticate any of this guy's statements so this is only from a single source.

A Journal of Alternative News:

"In a book entitled Tesla - The Lost Inventions, a section is titled 'Man-Made Earthquake'. It discloses Teslas fascination with the power of resonance and he experimented with it not only electrically but on the mechanical plane as well. In his Manhattan, USA lab, Tesla built mechanical vibrators and tested their powers. One experiment got out of hand. Tesla attached a powerful little vibrator driven by compressed air to a steel pillar. Leaving it there, he went about his business. Meanwhile, down the street, a violent quaking built up, shaking down plaster, bursting plumbing, cracking windows, and breaking heavy machinery off its anchorages.

Tesla's vibrator had found the resonant frequency of a deep sandy layer of subsoil beneath his building, setting off a small earthquake. Soon Tesla's own building began to quake. It is reported that just as the police broke into his lab, Tesla was seen
smashing the device with a sledge hammer, the only way he could promptly stop
it. In a similar experiment, on an evening walk through the city, Tesla attached a battery powered vibrator, described as being the size of an alarm clock, to the steel framework of a building under construction. He adjusted it to a suitable frequency and set the structure into resonant vibration. The structure shook, and so did the earth under his feet. Tesla later boasted he could shake down the Empire State Building with such a device. If this claim was not extravagant enough, he went on to say a large-scale resonant vibration was capable of splitting the earth in half.

An article from the 11 July, 1935 issue of the New York American entitled 'Tesla's Controlled Earthquakes', stated Tesla's - experiments in transmitting mechanical vibrations through the earth - called by him 'the art of telegeodynamics – were roughly described by the scientists as a sort of controlled earthquake.

Key searches to get the information I've found in Google: 'Scalar Interferometer seismic', 'seismic weaponry', 'tesla earthquake', 'William Cohen University of Georgia', and 'Hideo Murai Aum Shinrikyo'.

Bottom line at the very least is that there is significant research into seismic weaponry, and worst-case scenario would be that it exists right now.
